Instructions To add a folder or file to your favorites, click the Star icon to the left of the folder or file name. I want to implement this in a larger, more dynamic fashion, so manually setting default column values on each folder is not going to be scalable. Set the default folder where documents will be saved (unless you choose another folder for a specific document) with Tools, Settings, Files, Document tab, then specify the folder in 'Default document folder.' This folder will then be the one that displays when you first use File, Open/Save/Save As (or use Insert, File) during the session. Folders added to Favorites can be reordered manually and serve as a shortcut to folders located deep within folder structures.

Since a portion of my user base is used to foldering (explorer style), I've started using default column values to automatically set values on any files added to that specific folder (we have content organized categorically by folder currently). At the very top, you’ll see Open File Explorer to where you can select from This PC and Quick Access. In the dialog that pops up, you should already be on the General tab. I'm working on enhancing metadata in our SharePoint online (O365) environment. Pick the way that’s most convenient for you. Open the Pictures Library folder and set the view the way you like it to be with extra large icons. This can be done by clicking on your computer, or just pulling open the Documents tab from the Start menu.
